Well, despite all efforts to the contrary, I am sick again. I'm actually on the mend at this point, but I have been sick for a few days. I stayed home from work on Friday. I pretty much slept the day away yesterday and today. Although, I did go see a Harry Potter matinee today. I wasn't super impressed. I almost fell asleep in the movie. But, that's probably more to do with me being sick than a comment on the film. But, I have to say that I thought the film was really disjointed. If you hadn't read the books, you would have no idea what was going on, I think. And, they changed some things that didn't need to be changed at all. I was surprised at how many small things were changed. Like, when Harry went into Umbrage's office, he didn't steal Mad-Eye's eye from the door. That was weird. And, he wasn't in disguise at the wedding. Etc. There were several little details that I just thought were . . . weird. But, oh well. It was still entertaining.
I finished reading Robert Jordan's The Eye of the World today. It's actually fascinating to see how similar some of the elements in Harry Potter are to what happens in Jordan's novels. I wonder if JK Rowling has read The Wheel of Time series. I kind of feel like The Wheel of Time is a grown-up version of Harry Potter. I am excited to start reading the second book. It's really a shame that Robert Jordan died before he could finish the series. For those of you who don't know, he got a ghost-writer to finish it for him. Apparently the first ghost-written book is already out. He's going to write two more, I think, or something like that, to finish out the series. I wonder how good the ghost-written books are, compared to the originals. I hope they're pretty similar.
Anyway. Other than that, I don't have a whole lot to report. I am really excited to go to Denver to see Staci, Clark, Corbin, and Avery for Thanksgiving! I have never been out there to see their place. So, this will be really fun for me. Apparently it is going to be pretty cold there, so that will be interesting. I forget that it's basically winter everywhere else, because we don't really have winter here.
Well. I guess that's it for now. I'm pretty tired, and I have to get up early tomorrow for my church meetings. Blah. I don't want to go to my meetings. Usually I love going to them. But, not when I'm sick. Oh well. "Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven," as the song says. So. Yeah. Until next time . . .
